2026 Syracuse Football Preview

What’s to like:
Syracuse has built a solid home-field advantage, and playing in the Dome has continued to give the Orange an edge during conference play. That environment has helped Syracuse remain competitive in several important games over the past few seasons and should once again be a factor in 2026.
The secondary returns valuable experience, giving the defense a dependable group in the defensive backfield. Syracuse is also working toward a new offensive identity following changes at quarterback, and establishing a more balanced attack could help the offense become more consistent throughout the season.
What’s not to like:
One of the biggest concerns is finding more production from the wide receiver position. Replacing experienced playmakers won't be easy, and the offense will need someone to emerge as a reliable target if it hopes to become more explosive.
The defensive front also needs to improve its overall depth. Syracuse has enough talent in the starting lineup to compete, but injuries or fatigue over the course of the season could become an issue. Building more depth along the defensive line will be important moving forward.

Final Thoughts:
Syracuse enters the season looking to establish a new identity on offense while continuing to rely on an experienced secondary. The Orange have enough pieces to remain competitive, but replacing production at key positions and building depth along the defensive front will be important throughout the season. If those areas develop, Syracuse should be capable of competing for another bowl berth.
