2026 Georgia Tech Football Preview

What’s to like:
Georgia Tech has established itself as one of the more physical teams in the ACC under Brent Key. The Yellow Jackets have made a noticeable commitment to running the football, and that identity has helped them become much more competitive over the past few seasons. Playing with that level of physicality has allowed Georgia Tech to control the tempo of games and keep opposing offenses off the field.
The defense has also continued to improve. While there is still room for growth, the Yellow Jackets have become more disciplined and fundamentally sound, giving themselves a chance to compete every week. As recruiting continues to improve, Georgia Tech appears to be building a roster that fits the style of football Brent Key wants to play.
What’s not to like:
The passing game still needs to become more consistent. Georgia Tech has shown it can run the football effectively, but the offense will need a more reliable passing attack to keep defenses from loading the box. Finding that balance will be one of the biggest priorities this season.
Depth also remains a concern. The starting lineup is capable of competing with many ACC teams, but injuries could quickly expose a lack of experienced backups. That becomes even more important against the conference's top programs, where Georgia Tech has struggled to finish games against deeper, more talented rosters.
