2026 Georgia Football Preview

What’s to like:
As long as Kirby Smart is on the sideline, Georgia will enter every season as a legitimate national championship contender. Smart has built the Bulldogs into the gold standard of modern college football, combining elite recruiting, player development, and consistency at a level few programs can match. Georgia brings in one of the nation’s top recruiting class and a roster loaded with former blue-chip prospects waiting for their opportunity to shine.
Georgia’s depth across the roster remains among the best in the country, particularly in the trenches where games are often won and lost. The Bulldogs rarely experience major drop offs when starters depart because they consistently recruit at an elite level. With Smart and the recruiting class, Georgia enters with one of the highest floors and ceilings in college football.
What’s not to like:
Despite the talent that Georgia has attained, replacing proven stars is never as simple as plugging in the next highly rate recruit. While history suggests they will eventually find answers, there is always uncertainty when experienced leaders and playmakers are no longer there. Developing chemistry and identifying new go to players can take time, especially early in the season.
There is also the reality of navigating another brutal SEC schedule. Georgia may have one of the nation’s most talented rosters, but week after week they will face opponents capable of challenging them. The Bulldogs remain one of the favorites to reach the College Football Playoff, but maintaining championship level consistency through a demanding schedule is never easy.

The Bulldogs have the depth, recruiting, and experience to compete for another conference championship, even with key players they had to replace. If Georgia develops its new starters early, they should once again be one of the top teams in college football.
