What’s to like:
Duke has benefited from coaching stability, and that continuity has helped the program become more competitive over the past several seasons. The Blue Devils have developed a clear identity and continue to play disciplined football, regardless of the opponent. That consistency has allowed Duke to remain in the conversation for bowl games on a regular basis.
The defense has also continued to improve. Duke has become more fundamentally sound, tackles well, and has done a better job limiting explosive plays. While the Blue Devils may not have the same overall talent as some of the ACC's top programs, their defense gives them a chance to compete most weeks.
What’s not to like:
Recruiting remains one of Duke's biggest challenges. While the program has done a good job developing players, consistently competing with schools like Clemson, Florida State, and Miami for talent is still difficult.
The Blue Devils also need more explosive plays on offense, and the conference schedule won't provide many easy opportunities. Sustaining long drives against some of the ACC's better defenses is difficult, making big plays even more important if Duke hopes to take another step this season.

Final Thoughts:
Duke has become one of the ACC's more consistent programs, and that stability should continue to benefit the Blue Devils in 2026. The defense provides a solid foundation, but finding more explosive plays on offense will be important against the conference's top teams. If Duke continues developing talent, another bowl appearance is a realistic expectation.
