Below is a list of players I believe are the most impactful transfers who can push a team over the hump or even change the entire direction of the team. The transfer portal this year was insane as superstars were jumping ship and thinking the grass is going to be greener. Some of these players will be dominant on their new teams, and those are the ones on this list.

5. Makhi Hughes, RB: Tulane to Oregon

Makhi Hughes is heading into his junior year, and has decide to move up to the next level after dominating G5 for the past 2 season. In 2 seasons, Hughes has rushed for 2,799 yards and 22 TDs. The Oregon Ducks had a great 2024 season, but they are losing quite a few weapons. So, Makhi Hughes was brought in to keep them on track, and maybe become the missing piece they need to win the Natty. There is no doubt in my mind that Hughes and the Ducks will do some special things this year.

4. Eric Singleton Jr, WR: Georgia Tech to Auburn

A new QB needs a shiny new WR, and that is exactly the Auburn Tigers did when they brought in Eric Singleton. Singleton will be junior this season, and he is expected to big things as he has very solid is first 2 seasons. In those 2 seasons, Singleton racked up 1,468 receiving yards and 9 TDs. Singleton, along with plenty more Auburn Tigers, is expected to bring them out of mediocrity and into the SEC Elites. Expect for everything to change for Auburn this year.

3. Patrick Payton, EDGE: Florida State to LSU

Patrick Payton is heading into his fourth year of college football, and felt that it was time for him to move on and head to LSU. In his first 3 years, Payton had 110 tackles, 31.5 TFLs, and 16 sacks. LSU is already one of the top teams in the SEC, but they are looking for more, especially on the defensive side. Patrick Payton brings so much to the table and will make that Tiger defense so well rounded. Patrick Payton literally could be what gets LSU over the top.

2. Duce Robinson, WR: USC to Florida State

Florida State is effectively an entirely new team after their horrible 2024 season. They need weapons for their new QB, and they went and got a few, but I believe that Duce Robinson is going to be the main guy that will carry the offensive load. The rising junior, Duce Robinson, had a solid 2 years with USC as he totaled 747 yards and 7 TDs. Now, Robinson will be WR #1 and I expect him to emerge as one of the best WRs in the ACC. Florida State needs a good year, and Duce Robinson will be a huge part of that.

1. John Mateer, QB: Washington State to Oklahoma

The Oklahoma Sooners did have the year they wanted for their first year in the SEC, and with their QB leaving, they needed a new one. The Sooners may have struck gold as they got Washington State’s John Mateer after a season where he threw for 3,139 yards and 29 TDs while also rushing for 826 yards and 15 more TDs. John Mateer is expected to continue that dominance in the SEC, and I believe he will. Mateer could very well bring the Sooners all the way to the top of the SEC, and maybe into the playoffs.
