College Football was absolutely slam packed with some exceptional running backs in 2024. We saw records broke, records set, and legacies that will never die as 25 total RBs were taken in the NFL Draft. 2025 seems to be no different as there are quality RBs scattered throughout the nation, and today we will look at the 5 RBs that I believe will be the best of the best.

1. Jeremiyah Love: Notre Dame

Jeremiyah Love was one of the best RBs in the country last year while leading Notre Dame to the National Championship. Love rushed for 1,125 yards and 17 TDs while averaging 6.9 yards per carry and 70.3 yards per game. Love will be the vocal point for Notre Dame’s offense this season, and he has to have a great season if the Fighting Irish want to continue the roll they are on. Expect Jeremiyah Love to have a massive season this year.

2. Makhi Hughes: Oregon

In 2024, Makhi Hughes was the bell cow for the Tulane Wave and established himself as a premiere RB in college football. Hughes rushed for 1,401 yards and 15 TDs while averaging 5.3 yards per carry and 100.1 yards per game. He has now moved up a level as he has transferred to the Oregon Ducks. Even at the higher level of play, I believe that Makhi Hughes will thrive with the Ducks and show the nation that he is one of the best.

3. Nicholas Singleton: Penn State

Last season, Nicholas Singleton was one half of a two headed monster, but despite splitting reps, he still managed to put up great numbers. Singleton racked up 1,099 yards and 12 TDs while averaging 6.4 yards per carry and 73.3 yards per game. He will still split reps with another RB in 2025, but I think that he will be able to separate himself as the best on the team and one of the best in the nation. Regardless, Penn State will have a dynamic run game this season.

4. Isaac Brown: Louisville

Isaac Brown was a standout freshman RB in 2024 with Louisville, and I feel that he will continue to improve and rise as a very dominant player. In 2024, Brown rushed for 1,173 yards and 11 TDs while also averaging 7.1 yards per carry and 90.2 yards per game. Brown will only be a sophomore this year, and has so much room to grow. That is the main reason why I think he will be a great RB, and in the future, maybe even the best RB in the nation. Expect to hear this kid’s name for a long time.

5. Tre Wisner: Texas

Tre Wisner had a solid season in 2024, but I think it is the opportunity he will have in 2025 that will make him great. Last season, Wisner rushed for 1,064 yards and 5 TDs while averaging 4.7 yards per carry and 70.9 yards per game. Those numbers might not wow you, but he is now the go to guy on a team with a new QB. Texas might not be as efficient on offense this year, so they will have to lean on Wisner. This could open up so much for him, and could allow him to have a breakout season.
