What’s to like:

UCF has continued to improve its recruiting, giving the Knights more talent and athleticism throughout the roster. The program has the resources to compete in the Big 12, and adding more talented players should help close the gap with some of the conference's established programs.

The Knights should also have a stronger quarterback situation entering the season. More consistency at the position would give the offense a better chance to establish a rhythm and make better use of its athletic skill players. If the quarterback play improves, UCF should have a better chance of taking advantage of the talent around the position.

What’s not to like:

The biggest question is whether UCF can consistently move the football. The Knights have struggled to sustain drives at times, which has put pressure on the defense and limited the team's ability to control games. More consistent offensive production will be necessary to compete against the better teams in the Big 12.

Run defense is another area that needs to improve. UCF can't allow opponents to consistently control the line of scrimmage and still expect to compete throughout the conference. If the Knights can become more reliable against the run, the defense should be in a much better position.

Final Thoughts:

UCF has added more talent to its roster and should have a stronger quarterback situation heading into 2026. The problem has been consistency moving the ball, and the Knights also need to make significant improvements against the run. There is enough athleticism on the roster, but UCF needs more consistent play on both sides of the ball to take the next step in the Big 12.
