What’s to like:
Curt Cignetti completely changed the expectations surrounding Indiana football in a short amount of time. the Hoosiers took advantage of the transfer portal, bringing in experienced players who immediately raised the level of the roster. That approach helped Indiana become competitive much faster than many expected and gave the program confidence moving forward.
Just as importantly, the culture around the program has changed. Indiana no longer enters conference games hoping it stay close. The expectation is to compete for wins every week, and that belief has become one of the biggest reasons for the program’s recent success. If the Hoosiers continue evaluating transfer talent as well as they have, they should remain competitive in the conference.
What’s not to like:
Replacing key contributors will be one of Indiana’s biggest challenges this season. The transfer portal helped accelerate the rebuild, bur eventually those experienced players have to be replaced. The next group will need to prove it can produce at the same level, especially against some of the better teams on the schedule.
The other questions is whether they can sustain the success it experienced after its breakthrough season. Opposing teams now know what to expect, and the Hoosiers won't catch anyone by surprise. Maintaining that level of play year after year is often much more difficult than reaching it for the first time.

Final Thoughts:
Indiana enters the season with much higher expectations than it had just a few years ago. Curt Cignetti has changed the direction of the program, bur proving last season wasn’t a one year success story will be the next step. If the Hoosiers continue developing talent and replacing key contributors, they should remain competitive in the Big Ten.
