Pass rushing has become the most valuable aspect to a team's defense and their success. We keep seeing more and more pass rushers being top draft picks, winning DPOY, and getting PAID! Edge Rushers have been the highest paid defensive position in the NFL by a large gap. Below is who I believe are the premiere pass rushers in college football for the 2025 season.
#5 Colin Simmons: EDGE-Texas
Colin Simmons last season, as a freshman, burst onto the scene in dramatic fashion. In 2024, Colin Simmons had 48 tackles, 14 TFLs, 9 sacks, 1 INT, and 3 FFs. AS. A. FRESHMAN. Simmons also received Freshman All-American and Freshman All-SEC honors on top of winning the Shaun Alexander Freshman of the Year award.
#4 Matayo Uiagalelei: OLB-Oregon
Matayo had an unbelievable sophomore year with the Oregon Ducks as arguably their biggest defensive contributor. Last season, Matayo had 38 tackles, 12.5 TFLs, 10.5 sacks, 2 FFs, and 1 INT. Matayo’s sack total led the BIG 10, he was named to the All-BIG 10 first team, and was a finalist for the Polynesian College Football Player of the Year Award.
#3 Suntarine Perkins: LB-Ole Miss
Suntarine Perkins had a massive jump in his sophomore year compared to his freshman year. Last season, Suntarine Perkins totaled 60 tackles, 14 TFLs, 10.5 sacks, and 1 INT. The SEC was packed with great pass rushers in 2024, so expect Perkins to emerge as one of the premiere SEC pass rusher in 2025.
#2 Mikail Kamara: DL-Indiana
Mikail Kamara was the spearhead of that Indiana defense as they marched their way to a playoff appearance. In 2024, Kamara tallied 47 tackles, 15 TFLs, 10 sacks, and 2 FFs. Mikail Kamara received All-American honors, and was a finalist for both the Lott IMPACT Trophy and the Bednarik Award. Expect a huge season from Mikail Kamara in 2025.
#1 T.J. Parker: DE-Clemson
T.J. Parker had a spectacular season with the Tigers in 2024 and is expected to exceed all expectations in 2025. In 2024, Parker racked up 57 tackles, 19.5 TFLs, 11 sacks, and 6 FFs! T.J. Parker also received 2nd team All-American and 1st team All-ACC honors. There is no doubt in my mind that T.J. Parker will be the best college football pass rusher in the 2025 season.
